The immunology research ecosystem in Germany is dense – full of academic leaders, industrial groups. Yet, the USA and China remain strong and highly competitive players in the field, pushing innovation.

This technology 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘴 – its tentacles now reaching macrophages, γδ T cells, TCR-engineered therapies, and beyond. The field of genetic engineering in immunology is not only transformative but also profoundly versatile.

Finally, I learned the 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘦. This challenge is like a marathon – running too enthusiastically at the start risks exhaustion. Writing one post takes me about 2h of focused work. To sustain the journey, I realized the need for batching, scheduling, and leveraging digital tools/AI. It is not just about durability – it also 𝘳𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩.

This series is an act of self-learning and my passion for teaching. It also serves as a proof of my professional/scientific competencies:
1. Simplifying complex topics
2. Reframing ideas for different audiences
3. Convincing others of my vision (immunologist, not just a compliant follower)
4. Turning obstacles into opportunities (my cardiovascular science background, often criticized as ´not strong enough in immunology´)
5. Generating hypotheses others haven’t considered
6. Bridging ideas across disciplines
7. Anticipating future research
8. Natural drive to self-teach
9. Ability to connect seemingly unrelated ideas
10. Critical thinking

My path has been marked by 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴. Each time, I refused to repeat the same mistake, I changed strategy. My journey is full of curvatures, 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥.

I invite all immunologists 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴. You can reach me via DM or publicly in a comment. I do not delete comments I disagree with – 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦.

Stay tuned for 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟲: 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝘆𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆
